In the Pacemaker Unit we offer extensive experience in the diagnosis of cardiac rhythm disorders (arrhythmias) and in the implantation, monitoring and follow up of cardiac stimulation devices.
An arrhythmia is an alteration of the cardiac rhythm, but to understand it better we must know how and why the heart beats.
The heart beats occur as a result of electrical impulses that originate in a Node in the Auricle, Auricular Node, from there it moves through the atrium to the Auricular-Ventricular Node, located at the junction of the Auricle with the Ventricle, and through the Beam of His leads to the Ventricles.
Arrhythmias can cause palpitations, dizziness, syncope, chest pain or loss of consciousness, but they can also go unnoticed.
The Reference Diagnostic test is to make an electrocardiogram, if it only records the electrical activity at the time of the test. If we want to make a record for a longer period of time, we should use a Holter.
