Our team at the Endocrinology Unit is here to support patients with diabetes through on-going education.

Diabetes is a disease that causes an increase in glucose (sugar) in the blood due to a dysfunction in or lack of insulin, the hormone that helps cells absorb glucose.

Managing diabetes requires a multifaceted approach. We help the patient to understand their diabetes so they can make their own decisions. We inform and advise them about the treatment options that best suit their lifestyle.

We integrate diabetes care with other specialised services at HC Marbella from the moment of diagnosis.

Diabetes increases the risk of other diseases such as cancer and leads to problems involving the heart, vision, or kidneys. To provide the best treatment for our patients with diabetes, we work with doctors from different specialties to ensure that factors such as drug interactions, dosage adjustments, diet and mobility or memory problems do not cause unnecessary difficulties. The team has a close working relationship with a network of other specialists, including cardiologists, ophthalmologists, neurologists, gastroenterologists, general surgeons, dermatologists and cosmetic consultants.
