The growing appreciation that genital and sexual health is an indispensable part of the quality of life of women has given rise to a series of cosmetic treatments aimed at restoring comfort, anatomical harmony and intimate wellbeing.
Minimally invasive procedures, applied in the form of injectables, which are well known for their use in other areas of the body.
The most common cosmetic procedures in aesthetic gynaecology are:
Neuromodulators inhibit the nerve impulse in the muscle, resulting in muscle relaxation. They also reduce the release of neurotransmitters responsible for pain perception and decrease the activity of sweat glands.
These properties make them an optimal treatment for a range of gynaecological disorders, as they significantly improve the intimate and social quality of life of the patient.
This treatment is indicated for:
- Vaginismus, painful and involuntary contraction of the vaginal muscles, making penetration very difficult. Vaginismus often has a mental component, which is why an approach that also includes psychological care is recommended.
- Vulvodynia, long-lasting, unexplained pain in the vulva.
- Genital hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating in the pubic or genital area, causing irritation, unpleasant odour and discomfort.
- In cases of vaginismus: pain, impossibility of penetration, involuntary spasms, anxiety.
- In cases of vulvodynia: persistent pain, hypersensitivity, burning, inflammation, discomfort during sexual intercourse.
- In cases of hyperhidrosis: excessive sweating in the pubic area, irritation, unpleasant odour.
- Initial consultation for:
- Complete medical assessment and physical examination, to ensure a proper differential diagnosis.
- Knowing the patient’s concerns.
- Detailed explanation of the treatment and resolution of any possible doubts.
- Application of outpatient treatment in the doctor’s surgery, which may require several sessions:
- Intradermal microinjections in the area to be treated.
- Duration of treatment: 20-40 minutes.
- Immediate return to daily life.
- The results will gradually become visible over the following 2 to 7 days.
- The duration of the effect ranges from 6 to 8 months.
- Medical follow-up is recommended.
The gynaecological use of hyaluronic acid has regenerative and aesthetic purposes. This biocompatible, reabsorbable gel, present in our body, has a high capacity to retain water molecules, making it an optimal and safe option for moisturising, regenerating and filling the genital area.
This procedure is recommended when the following conditions are present:
- Vaginal atrophy or dryness, common in the menopause, postpartum, oncological treatments, …
- Loss of volume in the labia majora. Childbirth or age can induce body changes that result in flaccidity, asymmetry or stretching.
- Scars such as that caused by episiotomy.
- Vulvar dermatoses, used as a complementary treatment for lichen sclerosus.
- Vaginal dryness and irritation.
- Sensation of tightness or fragility.
- Discomfort during sexual intercourse.

- Discomfort due to scarring or inflammatory conditions.
- Initial consultation for:

- Possibility of suspending the use of certain drugs.
- Application of outpatient treatment in the doctor’s surgery:
- Application of topical anaesthesia.
- Vaginal hydration: superficial intramucosal injection in the vestibule or vaginal mucosa.
- Filling of the labia majora: subcutaneous injection with cannula or needle, followed by massage.
- Duration of treatment: 30 minutes approximately.
- Postoperative care for a week will involve:
- Avoiding sexual intercourse.
- Not going to swimming pools, or using jacuzzis or saunas.
- Refraining from doing strenuous exercise.
- The results will be noticeable in the following 7 – 10 days.
