Dr. Begoña Jiménez Rodriguez joins HC Marbella’s Breast Unit Team

Dr. Begoña Jiménez Rodriguezas joined our Breast Unit as a medical oncologist specialising in breast cancer and gynaecological tumours. Currently she also works as a medical oncology breast specialist at Virgen de la Victoria Hospital in Malaga.

Obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Málaga, Dr Jimenez Rodriguez completed her official doctorate programme in medicine at UMA and holds a master’s degree in Molecular Oncology from University Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid. She subsequently specialised in Gynaecological Oncology at the same university as well as Molecular Diagnosis in Breast Cancer, at the University Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid.

Dr Jimenez Rodriguez has devoted her career to breast cancer study and research, participating as an investigator in numerous projects on tumour detection and treatment.

She has also participated as an investigator at The Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research in the UK, specifically in the Phase I Clinical Trials Unit; she has been a co-investigator in national and international clinical trials at the Virgen de la Victoria Hospital in Malaga.
 

As part of her scientific activity, she is currently an investigator in the project “The role of breast and intestinal microbiota in the different intrinsic subtypes of breast cancer and in their response to treatment” for the Andalusian Public Foundation for Health and Biomedicine Research in Malaga (FIMABIS). She is also an investigator in the “Liquid biopsy in the multi-somal use of circulating tumour components project: Characterisation of the risk of relapse and detection of minimal residual disease in patients with early breast cancer” at Hospital Clinical Universitario Virgen La Victoria – CIMES.
 

She has participated in several publications and attended various national and international Medical Oncology congresses. She is also the author of numerous Medical Oncology scientific publications in journals and book chapters, both nationally and internationally.

Dr Jiménez Rodriguez will be responsible for leading and guiding the new Phase I Clinical Trials and Breast Cancer Unit planned by HC Cancer Marbella as part of a team which includes l Dr. Hernán Cortés, el Dr. José Manuel Trigo, la Dr. Nicole Martín, la Dr. Rosa Villatoro, la Dr. María Casanova, el Dr. Víctor Navarro, la Dr. Paula Sedano y Dr. Jorge Bermejo. Their experience will enable us to investigate the use of new targeted drugs in precision oncology and to devise new therapeutic strategies in breast cancer to improve our patients’ quality of life and survival rates.
