3 Tesla MRI

Resonancia 3 teslas Marbella
An accurate diagnosis is the first step towards choosing the most appropriate treatment

At HC Marbella, we feature a 3 Tesla MRI with artificial intelligence, a high-precision imaging technology that allows us to generate more detailed images, facilitating a reliable diagnosis.

This technology is twice as powerful as a conventional 1.5 tesla MRI, which helps to identify smaller lesions or detect abnormalities at earlier stages, reduce the duration of the scan by up to 40 per cent, and provide a more comfortable experience for the patient

Equipo radiodiagnostico HC Marbella

An expert team behind every image

Technology makes the difference, but it is the human team that turns it into a reliable diagnosis.

  • With you during every step of the scan
We know that an MRI scan can cause anxiety. Our technicians will support you and explain each step so that you feel calm and reassured. A relaxed patient cooperates better, and that results in sharper images.
  •

  • The image is not the diagnosis
A high-quality image is only the first step. To turn it into an accurate diagnosis, interpretation by a consultant radiologist is essential.
  •

  • Coordination with other specialists
Our Radiology team works in close coordination with the other departments at HC Marbella, integrating the results into your diagnostic process efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is image quality so important?

A higher-resolution image helps the radiologist to better detect, locate and characterise lesions. In certain scans, a small lesion may be more difficult to visualise on equipment with lower power or resolution.

Do I need to fast before having an MRI scan?

It depends on the type of scan. In most cases, fasting is not required unless your scan involves the use of contrast, in which case you may be asked to fast for a short period beforehand. Our team will advise you upon confirmation of your appointment.

I have claustrophobia. Do I need an open MRI scan?

Not necessarily. Although an open MRI scan may be more comfortable, in some cases it produces lower-quality images and can make it more difficult to detect small lesions.

Our 3 Tesla MRI scanner features a wider bore and allows for faster scans, combining greater comfort with high diagnostic accuracy. In cases of severe claustrophobia, the scan may also be performed under sedation, always under medical guidance and supervision.

Can I have an MRI scan if I have a prosthesis or a pacemaker?

It depends on the type of device or implant. Before the scan, you must inform us if you have a pacemaker, prosthesis, cochlear implant, medication pump, surgical clips or any other metallic object in your body.

Our team will check in advance whether it is compatible with MRI.

How long does the scan take?

The duration varies depending on the type of scan, but as a rough guide, it usually ranges from 20 to 45 minutes. Thanks to 3 Tesla technology, many scans are completed in less time than with conventional equipment.
