HC Marbella’s Nuclear Medicine Unit has been accredited as a centre of excellence for PET-CT.
HC Marbella’s CT technology allows us to take high-resolution, thin slice images to assess lung parenchyma, 3D images to evaluate airways (trachea/primary bronchi, main and lobar bronchi), and it has software for the automatic detection of lung nodules.
Multidetector CT scans allows the 3D reconstruction of the lung, in the three planes of space. As the x-ray ring rotates, x-ray emissions are sent to various detectors and the data are stored in a computer system that generates detailed, high-resolution images, in which pulmonary lesions of 1 mm can be detected.
This system adjusts the radiation dose to the minimum level possible for diagnostic images.
This test is capable of detecting small cancers of the lung at a very early, and thus potentially curable, stage.
